Case study: Neta.ai

We designed and built Neta.ai's packaging intelligence platform.

Vokality partnered with Neta.ai's founders as technical advisors and software architects, and designed and built a platform to support enterprise customers.

The brief

Neta.ai helps consumer companies and packaging manufacturers understand their regulatory exposure across EPR, PFAS, recyclability, labeling, and single-use rules, with pass or fail verdicts down to the component.

Packaging regulation differs by jurisdiction and changes often, and enterprise customers expect answers they can trace and trust. The platform had to meet those reliability and compliance standards while keeping pace with new requirements.

How we worked

Vokality served as technical advisors and software architects to the founders, and designed and built the product: the management dashboard, the rule engine, the customer dashboard, the data pipeline, and the AI agent.

The management dashboard

Compliance data requires continual upkeep. The management dashboard gives Neta.ai's team one place to maintain regulations, jurisdictions, regulatory authorities, materials, and fee data as they change, across federal, state, and local levels.

The team also uses it to manage customer organizations and their members.

The rule engine

The deterministic rule engine evaluates each SKU's packaging specifications against the regulations that apply to it, and returns a pass or fail verdict traced back to the source text. Rules are maintained through the management dashboard, so they can evolve as regulation changes.

Customers base compliance decisions on the engine's verdicts. Vokality worked closely with the founders and Neta.ai's data team to ensure its logic was accurate, thoroughly tested, and compliant.

The customer dashboard

Customers add their SKUs and packaging information, then evaluate them by jurisdiction. Each SKU receives a status of compliant, non-compliant, or needs attention, and customers can see which requirements are failing or missing information.

The dashboard also tracks upcoming regulatory deadlines and recent updates, including their implications for producers. Customers can search a regulation tracker by location, status, and type, generate custom reports, and manage their organization's members.

Ask Neta, the AI assistant, answers questions about packaging regulation and cites its source documents.

The data pipeline

The data pipeline crawls and processes websites, PDFs, images, and plain text, and stores the results in a vector database. The AI agent draws on that knowledge to power chat and recommendations. The pipeline has processed thousands of documents.

Building a platform your customers will rely on?

Share a few details and we'll come back with a clear plan, timeline, and estimate.

How we work

  1. Discovery call

A free conversation about what you're building, the constraints you're working within, and what success looks like.

  2. Scope & proposal

A clear plan, timeline, and fixed, itemized estimate, so you know the full cost before you commit.

  3. Build in short iterations

You see working software within weeks, with regular demos and a shared view of progress.

  4. Launch & support

We handle launch, then stay on for hosting, monitoring, and new features as your needs grow.
